While traveling on the motorway my wife complained about strong wind noises on the door opening.
I checked it out and clearly there is a big gap in the door seals. Please check the attached picture and tell me what I did wrong / which seal was cut too short during the restoration. Thanks Thomas |

Hi Thomas,
I don't believe the outer seal has the original profile - the original rubber was rectangular and provides a more substantial fit against the door (a greater surface area). I will post some photos over the weekend. Regards, Kevin |

Hi Thomas,
As you can see from the two photos I have uploaded, the outer door seal on my 411 is rectangular, so the mating surface with the door is flat and 2-4mm (it varies as the shut line varies from top to bottom), whereas on your car the seal appears to be rounded, so the mating surface is smaller, maybe 1-2mm. The vertical gap on the inner door seal on your car is also an obvious problem, and it doesn't look great on my car, although it is probably still more effective. Hi Kevin,
I looked at your pictures one more time and noticed that your door catch is mounted upside down. That means you have to swap left and right if you want to correct this. The top of the door aperture rubber should be tucked under the wood trim as on the pictures of my car. Nevertheless there is still a gap between the bottom of the chromed frame and the door aperture rubber..no idea how this can be closed. Regards Thomas Last edited by Thomas591; 05-06-26 at 08:46 PM. |
