I have also been just trying to remove the wood next to the windscreen on my 408 in order to repair some cloudy varnish. I have removed the ash tray on the passenger side but I am struggling with the ashtray on the steering wheel side. Is is necessary to remove the gear selector button mechanism ? Greg

The selector buttons do not need to be removed. It is held in exactly the same way as the passanger side. They can rust in if there has been any windscreen leaks.

Regards,

David

Thanks David,

I will have another look with fresh eyes. Daylight beat me as well.

Greg

p.s. I noticed one of the little bulbs that light the selector buttons had blown. Are they easy to find ?
