The picture of the tank was a couple of year ago when I was tackling something else so was not looking for air vents. It is not exposed at the moment. However the yellow 'pipe' on the top nearside appears to have an electrical lead? and there is no equivalent from the offside? I inserted a wire into the exit point and it went a long way and could easily have reached the top of the tank.
On the water leakage question I dont appear to have found the source but have applied sealant to the join between the fibreglass air vent exit and the car body and will test it before replacing carpets. (why did I not test it before applying sealant?)
