I am trying to settle an estate and have found a Arnolt Bristol burried in a garage. I am looking for information on how to value this car in order to sell it. I don't know the vintage and have no title.Is there a way to tell the vintage by using the vin? Unfortunatly the original engine and trans have been sold,the car has a replacement engine in it now. The body appears to be in rough shape and as it is burried I am not able to see the complete car. Any help that is offered will be greatly appreciated.

I always say my Arnolts are 1954 because most of them were built then, tho some were sold much later. If you can find the serial no., either on the firewall or stamped on the top of the right side frame near the front suspension, I may be able to tell you something about it. It will be 404X 3- - - -.

You can't really value any car without fully inspecting it to establish the condition and what is missing in terms of parts.

That said, probably some of the most knowledgeable people in the world regarding Bristol engined cars frequent this forum, so I would suggest you make as much information as possible available on here, along with photos if you wish. That way if there is any uncertainty about the facts it can be debated by those who know what they are talking about.

As for selling the car, it is also likely that there are potential buyers on this forum, so you may wish to make some contact details available. However I would caution against posting your email address in it's correct syntax, rather I would suggest using the forum "username-at-domain" (that way it won't get picked up by spammers). Of course you may also wish to auction the car if it is considered worthwhile.

What country and City is it in? From the writing I assume the USA. If it
is buried and you can't see the complete car it may be hard to determine
without further digging.

I echo Bill's comments that with the chassis or car number we might be able
to provide some assistance. Obviously the value of the car is hampered by
the lack of engine and transmission. With some photos we might be able to
hazard an opinion as to value, which also be might be affected by location,
Europe or North America etc.

Currently there are 9 Arnolt Bristols actively for sale. In order to
get any sense of value it is important to know the serial number and
engine number. The prices on the current offerings range from 95,000 to
300,000 dollars US. The other important issue to know is if the car is
a bolide or deluxe and whether or not there is weather equipment.
Weather equipment was standard on the deluxe and optional on the bolide.
The deluxe had interior and exterior door releases. The bolide had a
pull change on the inside only as a door release. The easiest way to
think of the models is that the bolide would be similar to a Porsche
speedster and a deluxe closer to the cabriolet. The cars also have
their value enhanced by a racing history. Kevin

Thank you for your reply - as the temp is supposed to be below 0 here for
the next several days I will reply as soon as it warms up a bit and I can be
in an unheated garage.


I have been told that the car has a 289 in it with a 3 speed and the
original rear end - I have not been able to verify this but will do so when
I look for the vin.

You must live in a "warm" climate. It is -25c were I am.
