I have made some recommended code changes over the weekend which is designed to cure this intermittent issue.

Unfortunately only through use, specifically replying to posts by email, will we know whether the fix works.

It is however heartening to know that the people who came up with the fix haven't had any problems on their sites since making the code changes.
