I find the light output superb on the 7 inch Halogen lamps. I would not replace them with any other tech.

(just my 2 cents..!)

If the lens are cracked the loss of light may be due to corrosion of the silvering of the reflectors. You might find new units would be the best solution, you can get Cibies on ebay for under £100 a pair.

A good selection of 7 inch lamps at Holden, cheap as chips!
The Cibies are 34 UKP each.

Better still, you can freshen up the whole lamps for £80 , including plastic bowls that won't react with the aluminium body of the car !! A vulnerable corrosion issue on a Bristol...
