Default Petrol sender unit

My sender unit has stopped working on the 411 petrol tank - has anyone sourced one that works well ? It does move but just to above empty. I will take it to bits first to see if anything obvious is wrong.

Just checked the dial and that was fine so removed the sender unit from the top of the tank and cleaned it up and it seemed to work ! I guess it must have just seized, so all is well again. I would still be interested to know if something fits / works from something else like a Jag / Rover etc Just for future reference.

I bought a replacement from Speedycables.com in 2006 cost was £27.30 +VAT.
Turned out it was the float had sprung a leak.
