Default Carb Replacement

I would like to replace my Carter 9134S carb for a Edelbrock. This is on my Beaufighter.
Has any member undertaken a replacement prior, and if so what brand and model was used.
Any advise is appreciated.
PS I did search previous articles on this subject and found nothing relevant.

Hi checkout - Carb for 383 on. 411 s3 from 72.
The AVS 650 1906 with Edelbrock Throttle Lever Adapter 1481 seems to be the one, it’s what I’m considering for my next purchase on my Beaufighter

Default Beaufighter carb exchange

Hi Tony
I have been researching this situation regarding my Carb for sometime.
I have been told by Graeme P that there is only one carb suitable, and that is the Carter 9134S, The engine and carb configuation is it! No other carb is suitable.
I have also had conversations with Michael B who also owner a Beaufighter and he has had no trouble starting, etc. Michael said that if you can get the carb correctly "tuned" everything should be fine.
I shall look into your suggestion for a AVS 650. Any further news/information would be appreciated.
Regards Mike

Hi Mike
From what I understand all the vacuum ports also seem to be as the original Carter carb unlike the Holley carbs.

Also just found this

Edelbrock does not manufacture a Thermo-Quad carburetor.
Instead, Edelbrock's 4-barrel carburetor line is based on the Carter AFB (Aluminum Four Barrel) and AVS (Air Valve Secondary) designs, which Edelbrock acquired and continued producing

Key Details

• Original Manufacturer: The Thermo-Quad was originally designed and built by Carter (and widely used on Chrysler/Mopar vehicles from 1971 through the mid-1980s), featuring a famous phenolic plastic main body designed to insulate fuel from engine heat.
• Edelbrock Alternative: If you want to replace a Thermo-Quad with an Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock doesn't make a direct Thermo-Quad clone. Instead, they offer square-bore or compatible Performer and AVS2 series carburetors.
• Intake Adapters: Because a Thermo-Quad is a spread-bore carburetor (larger secondary bores than primary bores) and Edelbrock carbs are typically square-bore, Edelbrock sells transition adapters like the Edelbrock 2696 or Edelbrock 2697 adapter kits to mount an Edelbrock carb onto an OEM spread-bore or Thermo-Quad style intake manifold
