Default 412 mini project

I have recently bought a 412 that's a decent runner but needs a bit of attention to details.

It's a series 1 so has the frameless windows.

My question is how far do I chase a good seal between the windows and the targa top?

At the moment the seals are more or less shot. I know the frameless windows were never exactly fantastic. The automatic window drop has been disables/doesn't work. How far do I go looking for a good seal between the roof and window? it is something that can be got to a decent level or is it a question of getting it vaguely water tight and accepting it is what it is?

thanks in advance

I have an early 412 with the frameless windows, I believe there were only about 20 of these made.I seem to be having constant trouble with the whole window system. My advice to you is becareful if you decide to not restore the auto wind down system as there is a danger when closing or opening the door to have the glass catch in the rubber and end up with a broken window. I would be looking for a new rubber that the glass just pressed against the rubber as opposed to the origin system where it presses up into a grove. It might be worth looking at changing over to the framed window if such a thing exists on the second hand market'

Generally though I have learnt to live with water leaks both from the windows and the roof.

If you decide to restore the auto window winder system please contact be if iI can be of any help

Yesterday I had a lovely day driving around with the targa off and windows down.

When i parked up for the night the passenger window was firmly stuck in the down position.
Not a problem today as the weather is still nice!

Makes the choice of window rubbers a bit of a moot point currently.

Ultimately I will try and restore the original mechanism and seal and if I need a new window motor I may as well get it done at the same time.

I would be very surprised if you need a new motor. It is generally wiring switches or relays that cause the trouble.

For your interest I have just discovered that the boot lock is off a Lancia Beta Spyder ( Zagato) not the beta coupe.

Thanks to Peter for his advice so far.

I have been looking at ways to widen the track, mostly to improve the look.

Would the axles from a Blenheim fit without a major engineering job? Any other ideas, as I am struggling to find suitable bolt on hubs.
