I have a 1973 411 S3 and the ignition switch lock barrel is getting sticky - hard to get the key in and/or it won't turn. 3in1 oil helps, but after 50 -odd year's it's clearly worn.
Does anyone know the originating vehicles and/or part numbers for the upper column and the switch and lock barrel please? Cheers |

Green 411
The steering lock you need is from an early Range Rover commonly known as a Classic Range Rover. Its a while ago that I changed mine on a 411 series 2. Let me tell you it is not an easy task to fit as on the Range Rover the special security nuts point to the floor (and can be removed with a small coal chisel) while in the Bristol they point to the sky because the lock is fitted up side down . I had to pull the instument cluster out and cut the bolts with a hack saw. Dont leave things too long as it will sudenly fail you. Regards Peter Dowdle |
