Default 411 wheel nut size

as mentioned earlier kevins wheel nuts are shorter the ones i copied from
411 mk 5 are longer

it would therefore appear that his would be ideal provided the angle of the
tapper is correct

clealy the 17 mm is common to your wheels and 411 wheels

Peter, I don't think we can say that for sure until I can actually measure mine. I wouldn't make that assumption based on a photo. There's no guarantee that the nut in my photo is properly home in the washer, in fact it is unlikely that it is.

Or maybe it's the washers that are different?

In the mean time, maybe someone else with Avon wheels can whip a nut off and measure nut and washer - maybe even make some drawings

Regards,
Kevin Howard

PS. Oops, just realised I posted this from my development admin account - sorry for any confusion!

I though the alloy wheels used on the Beaufighter were the same Avon Safety wheels that were available as an option for the 411 S5 and the 412?

You could phone Brian Marelli at Bristol Cars Services - ask him if (a) he has any secondhand nuts and washers for the Avon Safety wheels, and (b) if they will can be used on the Britannia wheels.

He will of course suggest you buy the SS nuts that they now use.

Default replace studs

Is there a reason why one would not be better off selecting a standard modern stud, rethread the wheel to hold it, and simply switch to an off-the-shelf wheel nut?
