Default 1948 400 in Danemark

I'm new to this group and like to Purchase an 1948 Bristol 400, I came across one which is advertised in Classic Cars.com and is currently in Danemark. The Car is Green and looks like either an older partial restoration or just Painted, according to the Seller it is an good Driver.
Questions:
Does anybody know anything about the History of this Car?
What is it worth ?

Any Input would be greatly appreciated ,
Kind regards
Heinz Peier

Default 1948 400 in Denmark

Heinz,
The only details of this 400 that I have are

Chassis 400/585
Car 400/1/334 (the 234th of the 421 standard bodied 400's built)
Original Engine 85A/1212 (85A denote fitted with 3 SU carburettors)
(But currently fitted with a FNS sports head & three Solex carbs)
Previous English Regn HAA900
Last Known Regn DR.08.38
Original Colour Grey
Despatched from Factory 26/4/1949

Modifications from Standard that I can pick from photos
Fitted with Oil Cooler, Electric Radiator Fan , Windscreen Washers ,
Remote change gearbox possibly from a 403 , brake servo/booster, right hand front road wheel is a later type to the others. It has sway bar brackets welded to the bottom of the chassis so assume it was once fitted with a 403 sway bar. All these updates would make it a better car to drive.

Steering wheel is white , the majority of 400's ( but not all ) have black steering wheels .
There is a gutter above the rear window , as per the later 400's fitted with a opening rear window , but this car has a fixed glass rear window.

In May 2011 it was for sale through Henny Kennis of Retrolegends for the equivalent of GBP42,000

I have never seen this car but it looks quite nice in the photos except the rust appearing under the door openings .

There are a few other 400's for sale at the moment

1. A early First series 400 possibly chassis 107 for sale in Sweden , advertised through car and classic . co .uk for GBP15,000 but needing restoration Contact Fred 046322640653

2. 400/369 a Australian delivered car now with Forest Vintage in England

3. There are two 400's for sale at the moment here in Australia.
The Australian 400's dont seem to have had the rust problems like the 400's that remained in UK .

If you need any more detailed information about 400's contact me off Forum .

Good Luck in your search

Default Bristol 400

Heinz

I do not know any more information about the 400 in Denmark. Geoff Dowdle has given you a very good summary of what is known about this car.

Please note I am expecting a very good 400 for sale shortly, and also a less good car needing a certain amount of work.

If I can be of assistance please send me an e-mail.
