Unhappy 406 Headlamp Rim Removal

Hi All,
I need to remove the headlamp chrome rim on my 406 in order to replace the front sidelight bulb.
The Instruction Manual says "Remove the rim by pulling on the finger grip at the base of the rim when it will become entirely free"
I can rotate the rim, however, it is refusing to come off, even when attempting to remove it with a large padded screwdriver.
Maybe someone has been there before me...?
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Peter

Ha, Ha!
I have managed to answer my own question.
The answer - Sheer Brute Force!
Not the sort of thing I like to do around chrome or bodywork, but it worked.

Glad you got it off ok. For future reference, does it have a small hole on one side? The 410 chrome ring has a small hole on the bottom, that due to the shape of the bodywork cannot easily be accessed. In the on-board tool kit I carry a length of coat hanger cut and bent into a short hook that can be inserted and used to remove a reluctant chrome ring if required.
