Default SU cold start pipe identification

What is the function of the pipe in the attached image on the SU cold start solenoid? It must connect to something but what.

It delivers the rich fuel mixture, for starting, into the inlets via the balance tubes - there is a hose, two jubilee clips and an adapter on the head. Your pipe looks modified though - I don't know what the small pipe added to it is for.

The diagram is from the Spares Handbook for the 400. A pdf of the whole spares book is available in the archive section of the BODA website.
