Default 403 Breather

This breather was fitted to my recently aquired 403. Has anyone seen one of these? What might it be off? It is beautifully made, Chromed Brass. Brother Geoffrey has made original style cover plates for the motor which are now fitted.

Default Breather on 403

Have I seen one such on a racing engine / FN spec perhaps? somewhere? Or even a BMW 328?
