I transplanted the whole front beam off a scrapper 406 ( ouch- they do exist) onto my 400. This gave me Discs and Konis and an anti roll bar. Slightly higher front end and different castor angles. No major surgery needed ( the 405 already has a servo IIRC. )
I’d have an existing 405 gearbox/ OD overhauled if at all possible- it’s the finest gearbox I’ve ever driven.
