Default New Member Saying :: Hello All

Thanks for having me on here. I'm a retired engineer (automotive engines amongst other things) born in Bristol in the mid 60s and allowing myself the fantasy that I might finally be in a position to be the custodian of a mid 60s Bristol of my own. I have long admired the cars and busses bearing that name and have fond memories of seeing the bare bus chassis being road tested along the Bath Road in Brislington as a youth (I know they are not the same company, although related).

Amongst the many vehicles I have squandered time and money on over the years, I fondly remember an old Chrysler Charger I owned for a period in the late 80s which had a 318ci small block V8 and Torqueflite transmission. From what I have learned so far that is very likely to be the powertrain fitted to a Bristol of the era I am interested in. Almost like it was meant to be.

I shall be reading your forum for a while to learn what I can about Bristol ownership and maintenance as I would expect to be doing most jobs myself. A concern is obviously the availability of parts, in particular brake and suspension parts, as I imagine most other components can be replaced with fabricated or equivalent parts from other models.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
