Hi Geoff,
The top is a pin, the bottom is an eye hole.
They would be fronts only on a 406, as the rears are very much longer.
These were almost the same size as the gas shocks I opted to put up front.
As it was, they may have been correct for this 406, since the ones I put on needed a half inch spacer under the upper mounting so that the pin would not protrude too much. If I recall correctly, the Armstrong might have been the half inch shorter that I needed to correct for with the American made gas shocks.
Inasmuch as I had a complete set of those, which came in the boot of the car, installed them.
