Fuel starvation

I would check the diaphragm in the fuel pump. If this is damaged, or possibly not correctly centered, then under acceleration it masy cease to function, and it can be quite intermittent.

Bristol Cars and Engines

I'm getting a bit lost in this thread - but the original cover was
not blue but darkish red grained in black. The Tassie items are
unknown to me.

411 Windscreen Trim

Kevin:

This looks similar to the 406 trim in rubber. First of all new rubber
is a good idea, but check where you buy it.

Also first of all is the need to carefully shape the chromed strip to ...

Not sure who established that Bristol owners are Apple/Mac persons. I
am one from the beginning but later while chair of a small computer
company that embraced IBM/Microsoft technology....

Bristol: The Inside Story

Kevin:

Just got mine too form the USA -paid for surface mail (USD 9.00) but
because of the Amazon box breaking the US Postal chaps put it in an
airmail sack. Meanwhile I notice Amazon UK is...

Bristol: The Inside Story

The price seems to depend on where you buy it. Amazon UK wants GBP
35.00, whereas Amazon USA wants USD 39.95. Both plus postage. There
are other UK sellers charging less.

100A engine and non leaded petrol

Ashley/
:

Great information for Peter. However, I have been lucky enough to buy
two Bristols ( both 406s) with 50,000 miles on the clock, and laid up
forever. As Bristol engines leak a bit of...

Pilgrimage to Filton

According to one informant, if you just turn up, and act polite,
maybe you can get in a peek.

6 cylinder head repair

I looked on their web site and the way their information is
presented does not inspire confidence. They claim it is on a RR
Phanthom chassis, which I very much doubt.

The body design does...

Cutaway drawings

Just found another one in a publication called The Car, issue no. 6.
It has an aerial cut-out view of the 405, partly coloured and in a
two-page spread. No draughtsman named.

I don't think any...

Cutaway drawings

The examples I have are all from Autocar articles or Autocar
reproductions on somewhat better paper. I also have a Cutaway
Collection of the 405. This says it is drawn from the archives of
...

Steering BOX

We've had this conversation before. I think that Nick makes an
excellent point: setting up any brakes is a big part of it. I found
that on the 406 the Dunlop discs were just splendid. With the...

Rebuilding Steering Wheel

I have given up many years ago trying to get personal refunds for

Alternative wheels

The only Bristol 6 cyl I've seen with an original timber rim wheel
is the Zagato. That Roller one looks quite nice, but possibly a bit
fat.

Custom Soft Top

Claude:

Well I am familiar with the super chassis. But I still wonder if you
chop off the lid, the remaining metal will not be open to distortion/
vibration. The Alivs cars were built with that...

Well, I think we should always dream, but total restoration of
Bristols is not cheap, and rebuilding them to a different format is
probably always going to be even dearer, as you will try...

Not a new idea; tried that with the webmaster and that's how he

Referring to Geoff' question, perhaps there is a whole tribe of

Bristol related book - FROM CHAIN DRIVE TO TURBOCHARGER.

I agree that this is an essential read. But it does show the
difference between what was becoming a badge applier and a
manufacturer. I'm not saying which was smarter - buying in needs ...

Any suggestions for alternatives to a Bristol?

I had a Mark VI and I thought it was a bit of a tractor. Very heavy.
But I never did much to it.

I always liked the Lancia Bs; but never did buy one. A couple of the
blokes here had one but...
