Default Bristol Watch???

I bought it in Germany a few years ago and the guy told me that is was for the Bristol 407.
Does anyone have more information about his watch?
When has it been made and how many?
Kind Regards
Erik

it certainly looks like a promotional watch, with the badge displayed - see my post about Certina "Bristol" watches too.

I think this is quite unlikely because that emblem, or something similar to it, didn't appear on the cars until the 412. Also, the version used by Bristol had more colour in it (yellow and blue from memory).

It's obviously meant to promote Bristol, but that doesn't necessarily mean Bristol Cars - maybe rather the city of Bristol?

I don't know for sure though!

Default Bristol Watch???

Certina were a high quality watch manufacturer and supplied the
British Military in the Fifties. It would be good to own without
Bristol written on it. Most of the smaller Swiss companies failed
when hideous digital watches appeared and in the main, the names
were re-used on less impressive ones that appeared when it was clear
that people still wanted good old fashioned mechanical.

Another Bristol car watch found! Only Bristol cars had yellow on the cliff - I think.

GREG, or friend406, - would either of you consider selling these watches?

I suspect these watches are both modern creations, possibly on older watches. There is a market on ebay for all kinds of branded goods, and watches are always popular.

Here's one now:

I don't know why you would suspect that, but you suspect wrong ! It is a promotional watch from the Geneva motor show only as modern as the 50's.

It was bought from a Jewellers in Switzerland a bit before ebay.

Good luck finding one on ebay

I stand corrected. However I have seen all sorts of stuff on ebay that is clearly modern stuff with badges for old marques (not just Bristol) stuck on. Caveat emptor, as always!
