plenty of 603 s2 have come up for auction
I am surprised to see so many 603 s2 coming up for auction this summer and also one for sale on autotrader.
Is it a situation where one comes up for sale and then other sellers decide also to give it a go ? Is it a generational thing where most owners want to move on ? Or is there more to this ? Maybe the rocketing cost of classic car ownership ? |
A few I know having spoken to the vendors are long term owners or family members who have decided to move the cars on , indeed the one from Autotrader was bought by a friend of mine who seems very pleased with the purchase. The others I don't know what has motivated the sellers, perhaps more awareness of the model, a better appreciation of where the 603 sits in the Bristol scheme of things and a final appreciation of how good they actually are compared to some of the more expensive V8's. I doubt very much its the expense of running them that is pushing sales as the 603's are easy , fairly cheep to maintain by any standards and reliable practical cars capable of daily use, I have two 603E's one of which has been my normal daily transport since I bought it in May 2023 and the other just recommissioned after a full brake overhaul and is shortly going to have an edelbrock carb conversion from the two barrel carter fitted as standard. Perhaps though as you say an owner who is not using the car much sees one coming up for sale and decided to test their luck with their car.
