Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid the broken unit is beyond repair. It's already had one repair on it (before my time) and it's had it.
With the best will in the world things can look right on the internet but despite measurements and scrutinising of pictures I've had some bad experiences in this department.

I'm just trying to narrow down my options.
