Default Engine Measurements

Kevin & Ash -

It seems logical there should not be a large differential between oil
and water temps, but perhaps the measurements need to be verified
first. I had an Alfa that seemed to be running hot and I chased
several solutions before discovering a bad water temp sensor.

Somewhat related - I've been researching fuel/air analyzers with a
plan to check several cars, including the Frazer Nash in NZ. I'm
leaning towards the Innovate LM-2. The optional "AuxBox" includes a
2-axis accelerometer and other sensors - almost a handheld
dyno. Anyoned with experience with similar units?

Default Wrong as usual

I went for a drive and after about 15 miles the oil temperature is 70 degrees or a little more, Water temp is 80 degrees plus a bit for hills or delays and oil pressure is slightly above spec, especially at tick over. On the open road in overdrive top it's doing about 80 mph at a bit over 3000 and it seems happy at that speed.

Having been told they were revvy engines I've been surprised at how there is a surprising amount of power from tick over, it will rev past 4000 but seems happiest below. The fan is noisy at higher RPM.

All in all a surprisingly good old car to which I shall shortly fit an anti-roll bar that is lying on the hall floor and causing mild irritation with the other half!
