the old, bastardized Bristol with the BMW powertrain

Not a chance I would be interested in such a 'hybird'. Bad enough it is the old 6 cylinder series, but to tear one apart? No, not or me. I am mainly fascinated by the fact that Bristol went to the Chrysler Canada V-8 configuration, such as in the 409 model. I like the older body style, but it would just have to have the V-8 and Torqueflite transmission with the quirky pushbuttons.

Personally, if I had one with the Bristol 6 cylinder, I wouldn't change it. But if the engine has been disposed of by a previous owner? Given the heritage, I think a BMW engine is the perfect choice. And I require a manual gearbox.

If this car has been canibalized for the engine, maybe headed for the scrap yard, I have no problem with saving it this way, but it would be a shame if they were cutting up a car that was in perfectly good condition.

The BMW/Bristol relationship

That does make some sense, as the Bristol was born a BMW as part of the old 'war reparations' agreement, and the chassis and much of the other engineering, even the body stampings were all the post- war BMW expectatons. It will be a most interesting hybrid. And changing out the 4 door to two door configuration is a challenge most would not undertake. Motor on, and show us the finished product.
