Is it possible on 100a engine?

Hi
Has anybody ever fitted modern valve stem seals on a 100a engine?

Colin,
for over 40 years I have used what we refer to as "Umbrella Seals" on the inlet valves only . These sit on the valve stem close to the upper Valve Spring seating. So they go up and down with the valve stem and allow some lubrication to the valve guide . It is not necessary on the exhaust side as the exhaust fumes will be forced up between the guide and valve stem and not allow oil to pass.

The ones I use are an early Toyota Corolla #90913-02007 , but I have not bought any for many years . They are all rubber, with no steel body or spring, unlike the modern type that maintains pressure on the rubber and in turn on to the stem, which are pressed on to the top of the valve guide.
