Default 412 Brakes

After too long my 412 is about to start on the way back to the road.
With the current situation at Bristol Cars can anybody point me in the direction of a supplier of brake rotors please?
Thanks
Phil

I can,t recall the supplier some years ago but you will find that jag parts do the job. XJ6 sort of vintage.

Default 412 Brakes

I sourced brake parts for my 408 Mk 2 from jagspares.co.uk, SNG Barratt and David Manners, mainly Jag Mk2 V8 and E Type Series 1, but these were for Dunlop brakes and the 409 onwards had Girling brakes, so the equivalent Jaguar models may well differ.

Phil,
I do not believe there are any off-the shelf equivalents.

It is very likely they are are the same as the 411 brake disc/rotors, which are a Girling 64327417 for the front.

The rear being 64327404. Not sure how the front and rear discs varied.

Now that Bristol Cars are no longer with us, it is important to get some certainty around parts information, otherwise we will end up with all sorts of different modifications as owners try to keep their cars on the road.

Thank you all.
I have contacted Girling and will post any reply.

Phil

BODA currently has a project to identify the precise dimensions of the front and rear discs on 406 to 411 models - some are common to different models and others vary. The ambition is to identify a supplier who can provide replacement discs to the requisite dimensions for each model. This may take longer than hoped for, given the current lockdown.

Girling 64327417 and Girling 64327404 discs (as mentioned by Kevin above) are respectively the front and rear discs specified in the Spares Handbook for the 409 and 410 so it sounds like they were carried through to the 411 and (probably) the 412 as well.

I did get a quote for a specially made rear disc for my 408 recently - GBP 171 + VAT. No doubt supreme quality at that price .....

Girling have said they cannot help. I am awaiting replies from other sources.

According to an invoice from Bristol Cars when I bought two front brake discs from them, the front discs for the 411 have a 409 Bristol part number - 409-1-23044.

Just to confuse us, the Parts List for the 409-410 has a different Bristol part number for the front brake discs, which is 909-1-23044 but thankfully they also list the same same Girling number 64327417.

The Bristol part number for the rear discs is 909-1-30015 (Girling 64327404).

It would be interesting to know why Bristol sometimes used part numbers beginning with 9 instead of a 4.

The discs on a 408 are not the same as the 409-411 and have a 406 part number - 406-1-23044 (front and rear). Bristol used Dunlop brakes before the 409.

I'm not sure if there was any change between the 408 and the 408 Mark 2, but the rear discs on my 408 Mark 2 are part no 406-1-30091. The front discs have the part no quoted by Kevin. BCL still used the Dunlop brakes on the Mark 2.
