I've not yet had a detailed quote for my 411, but the local chap (who does
generally very good work) reckoned it would be around 8K, depending on what
they found when it was down to the metal.

I'd also be very interested in what others have found

I have a very good garage in Poland and you have to calculate around 4- 5K do do a complete paint job in excellent condition. They done my MGs and my BMW including interieur and chroming and the quality was excellent. Poland is of course quite nice for ma because I live in Berlin/Germany. Hans

Greg,
depends how much preparatory work you want to do yourself!
I stripped out all the glass, and removed all the twenty odd layers of
paint. My re-spray,in a solid colour with top coats of laquer worked out at
just under two thousand .The better the laquer quality the better the depth
of finish.
From bitter experience. the painter MUST be the person who readies the car
for paint.

Greg,
I recently (2009) had an everything out incl glass refurbishment to our 410. Our Australian costings won't be useful to you (around 5K+ GB). The aluminium has to be very carefully prepared with repeated sanding, acid washes and etching primer applications. It's a very complex process or the paint won't hold and will start lifting off.

Does anyone know how many litres of paint / primer and other materials are needed to paint a 411 ?

It looks like I will be able to aquire a large amount of metallic silver paint from a customer that has gone into liquidation. It is especially formulated for a high quality finish on aluminium vehicles. Let me know if of interest.

Greg
