Default Chrome protection

Can anyone recommend any products for protecting chrome trim?

Surprisingly simple but ordinary white Vaseline is pretty good, it appears to work by filling in the microscopic pores that are inevitable in chrome and indeed all plating and remains in those pores when you want to take the car out and polish it off.
