Bristol to be reborn by Jason Wharton!?

Germany's major motoring magazine, Auto Motor und Sport, published an article on January 13th that Bristol is to be revived again by British real-estate entrepreneur and Bristol fan Jason Wharton. It sais that they plan to build Fighters and modified 411's already in 2022, eight cars of each type, equipped with Chrysler 6.4 l V8's. In 2025, according to Wharton, they are planning to offer a 4-seater GT "Buccaneer." The model is supposed to be built on an existing mass-production platform and will be powered by a V8.

Sounds promising, doesn't it? I love the idea o a Bristol Buccaneer!

Any confirmation or news on that?

Reborn

Autocar also published an article covering this. They sound a little like 'restomods, although the article indicates that they will be built from scratch. A revised and modernised 411 might find a market, depending upon price, but the Fighter never did. In fact Bristol were never successful at building anything other than two door, four seater saloons (some more sporty than others). Due to government policy, any new design would need to be built on an existing all electric platform, such as a Tesla Model S, as any investment would need to last at least twenty years without any further serious expenditure.

A break from tradition. After the numbering system they adopted names of Bristol aeroplanes from the past. Wonder why they’ve chosen Buccaneer as a name. Any ideas?

Buccaneer

Apparently, that was the name chosen by Tony Crook as the replacement for the Blenheim. Unfortunately the Fighter, as a sportier model, was chosen instead, rather than the four seater Buccaneer. The rest is history.......
