Default Bugatti bench and vice

I visited the workshop of a local automotive mechanic/engineer and spotted a Bugatti vice mounted on a steel Bugatti workbench. Both are apparently originals from the Bugatti factory. Both were clearly designed and manufactured to last forever! See pics attached.

Default Bugatti vices

And the Bugatti Owners Club does supply replica vices , at £750 iirc. But these look original?

Default Bugatti vises and such

It would be very hard to determine if these were actually made by the Bugatti firm, and I think the other member is correct as to these being replicas made by people who own and admire the marque. I have read some material on Bugatti and there was never a mention of them manufacturing much besides automobiles.

I think it's shameful for a marque owners club to have replicas of automobilia manufactured, it just fuels the fake trade where they passed off as individuals.

As for these particular examples, they look original to me and the bloke who owns them is a very experienced vintage/veteran restorer (incl Bugattis) so I would assume he did his homework. However, the originals are very valuable so there is plenty of reason to make a copy look original!

Incidentally there is also a UK company called Tula Engineering who also makes replicas of the vice which they sell for £3500. The Bugatti Owners Club offering probably comes from China.

It is indeed shameful ! In fact Vice crime has become such a problem in Yorkshire that the Police now have a dedicated Vice squad !

Although I would like one because I don't have any Vices -- except playing with my Bristols ! I am not against playing with fake Chinese Bristols if anyone has any ?

Greg, we should add a title under your name on this site - "Mr eBay".

I can't ever recall seeing a scale model of a piece of automobilia. It says something about how much the original would be worth!

I must admit, I was stunned and amused when I found a miniature Bugatti vice existed !

Who on earth would want or buy such a thing and what would they do with it ?

Makes me feel almost normal ! I guess we all have our vices, no matter how small.

Remember kids -- ebay is for fun and Mike Stokes at Bristol is for parts :-) If that fails, someone on here knows where to find the bits we need.

The description says;

"A good collectible investment model for people who collect models of British or Humber cars." Huh?

I suppose it's mostly British with Hillman back lights ! Wonderful with a Fisher Price garage and Bugatti 1/43 vice -- endless fun for some !

Default Bugatti vices and such; my, my, what a tempest!

We all have our favorites, but few of us will own an old Bugatti, or Bug, as insiders call them. Matter of fact, few people have ever stood beside a Bug, let alone have any idea that an automobile was ever produced that bore that name.
Now, we can all recall looking at vulgar tatoos on people with their favorite marque brandished on their limbs. Hard to imagine people going to such lengths to display their passion for inanimate objects, but it is quite common.
If a person wants a Bristol badge replicated and done in mosaic on their foyer floor, then so be it. I would wager that the next occupants would probably want it removed. I would certainly find it amusing, but don't think I would go to those lengths.

I lied :-)

Insiders call VW Beetles "Bugs" Imagine the confusion when Bugatti insiders meet with VW insiders !

I need a lie down.
