Default 411 clock

My clock is on the wrong time after a battery change and the little chrome knob on the lower right of the clock doesn't seem to do anything. How is it supposed to work?

Thanks

Push the knob in and turn it anti-clockwise to advance, clockwise to retard. It's not altogether easy and the knob is almost too small to get a secure grip on.
