Default 318 pushrods

In removing the pushrods in order to install new valve seals, I found 2 broken ones. In one case the end fell off outside the engine...very nice and in the other
the end remained inside the engine. The ends are abou 1'2" long and slide in to the pushrod. The downside would be the removal of the intake manifold. Eventually with a magnet I got it out. I have spares so not an issue...rather has anybody else had this experience?
Basically if you don't pull them out they will probably continue working albeit broken.
