Bristol 407 Manifold
 

Hello Bristoleans,

I'm posting because the passenger side manifold on my Bristol 407 has broken off where it joins the exhaust.
I'm struggling to find a replacement but I have read elsewhere in these pages of a stainless steel manifold option possibly made (or sold) by ACCS. However I can't find any details of this company online.
I would settle for anything that would get the car back on the road; whether this means replacing both manifolds with stainless or just finding a replacement for the broken one. The damage is such that it's not feasible to weld it though.

It's very bad timing with the summer upon us!

on my car the LHS manifold the downpipe is on one end; not sure if it would clear?

It looks close, but not quite right.

Forgive me if I am telling you how to suck eggs:
Whatever course you take, the old manifold has to come off. Is it beyond repair? Cast iron is weldable, but it's an art not everyone can undertake.
I usually go onto the EBay.com (USA) to identify other vehicles (Dodge/Mopar/Plymouth/Chrysler) which utilise the same part, as there are usually lots of photos to aid identification. The downside of ordering from the US can be expensive postage and 2-3 weeks delivery. Repair might be the quickest and cheapest option and avoids modifications to the exhaust.

Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid the broken unit is beyond repair. It's already had one repair on it (before my time) and it's had it.
With the best will in the world things can look right on the internet but despite measurements and scrutinising of pictures I've had some bad experiences in this department.

I'm just trying to narrow down my options.

The casting number which is clearly visible in your photo should (sorry don't know the size of engine in a 407) aid you in your search. Other source - you might try Dave Billadeau 07791 141 170 (m) , he rebuilds Chryslers and is very helpful.

Martin Barnes at ACCS is the man to ask. But it can be a bit of a trial getting action!
If you get the right SS item you first see an enormous weight saving. Under bonnet cooking is reduced when you switch off. Also performance gains are significant. The replacement will have the outlet in the middle ... which is shorthand for the fact you'll have to replace the down pipes. Peter

I don't know if the exhaust manifold of the 407 is the same as the 409, or anyway if a 409's 318 ci manifold can be fitted to the 407's 313 ci engine, but if it is, I have some spares.

I broke it and repaired it and I bought 2 more before we realized that the exhaust pipe coming down from the manifold was too short and it bumped on the chassis at every blip of the throttle, pulling on the red-hot manifold and making it break easily.... a spacer cured this problem.

Hi Stefano, I think I read that the only difference between the two (apart from ancillaries) is the bore.
I would be very interested in purchasing a spare manifold from you if thats ok and if its the right part. First off though perhaps it would be prudent to send me a photograph so that i can compare it with the one thats on the car. thanks PF
