Carb set up

What's the best way to set up 2 litre carbs and any easy tools ?

Setting up carburetors-tuning

Depending upon which models were installed on you car, there are some simple ways to synchronise them with few specialised tools, but I would need to know what carbs were fitted. I have used the famous Unisyn on occasion, but am not impressed with the results, and found that tuning by ear is more effective. Another set-up uses what I would call 'needles' that go down in the tops of the carbs where the carbs are replenished with oil. I have no confindence in that method either. If the carbs have seen many miles, then a number of things would have to checked before any 'tuning' is attempted. Normal wear and 'gunking' up from the fuel can cause any number of problems. Best to find a specialist who can clean, refurbish and give you some starting points.

I have had very good luck with a Unysin. That is how I set up my 400 and most of my cars. Are your throttle shafts ok? If worn then you would be wasting your time. You can go by ear and a tube but you need a good ear and understand the "talk" from the carbs.
