Any Bristol Restoration Blogs/books/parts book

Colin,
Get back to me on my Email and I can arrange to send to you the 6 cylinder 400 to 403 Instruction Manual (850Pages) on CD or maybe download. Should be a good starting point if you don't have one.

Colin,
The September edition of The Automobile magazine is going to have a feature about Andy Gibbs restoration of his 403 which will be worth you getting.
Geoff.

401 resto blogs

I purchased a partly restored 401 in poor condition and had a similar problem.
I found help and limited spares through this site but found nothing of the sort you are hoping to find.
The Bristol manuals of various descriptions (all repro nowadays), do a reasonable job of engine and drive train but the rest of the car is covered only by exploded, and incomplete, diagrams.
My 401 was my 41st vehicle restoration and the only one of a fully hand built car and reckon I've spent the better part of 2,500 hours on it over the 17 years I've owned it.
The previous owner spent nearly AUD$100k without having started any panel, paint, electrical, interior trim (all of it), instruments, etc
My opinion is that the only way to restore a hand built car is to hand build it again so best of luck, patience or/and a swag of money.

John,
There is in fact a full reproduction of the original 401/403 workshop manual in CD form regularly available on ebay from a supplier in the US.
This is the full monty, reproduction is excellent throughout and you can print sections off as needed to take into the workshop.
It is sold by Steve who you should be able to contact at oldbikes77@yahoo.com.
Geoff.
