Default Bristol 400 - KHY 290

Hello,

I recently purchased a Bristol 2 litre Instruction Manual off EBay. The seller, a family member of the original owner, has also kindly sent me some copy invoices for work carried out by Bradburn & Wedge in 1952 and an invoice from a firm of auctioneers when the car was sold for £790 in 1953. She would like to know if KHY 290 still exists. Can anyone assist?

Kind regards.

Troedyrhiw ,
Unfortunately there is no reference to KHY290 in the Bristol 400 Register.
"KHY" is a registered number in Bristol area "B" between Feb 1947 to April 1948 , so there is a good chance this car was a BAC owned car .

There is a car "KHT290" that was the first production 400 chassis 400/1/104 .
Could you please check the registered number and is there a reference to the engine number on any of the documents or the colour of the body.
What is the name of the first owner ??
Does the family member have any old photos of the car ??
Could I please have a copy of the Bradburn & Wedge documents

If you don't want to release some of this info over the Forum for privacy reasons, you could send me a private message through the Forum.

Do you own a 400??

Thanks

Default Kht 290

Sorry but as explained to Geoff Dowdle outside the Forum either my eyes or fingers were misfiring when I typed my original post. The actual registration number of the 400 referred to is indeed KHT 290 which appears to have been the first production type 400 but has not been heard of since the early 1980s.

the car is still registered with the DVLA. It isn't taxed and hasn't had an MoT since (at least) 2005.
