Radiata......A nasty Italian custom of taking the vehicle off the Italian registry of vehicles. If you don't, and leave the item parked in your garage for years, you still pay the road taxes and any other charges that may apply.
If you were doing a long term restoration you may pay as much in accrued taxes a spart of the restoration.
If you do a radiazione you don't have to pay as the vehicle is off the system. It is worth less but then that it to your advantage.
This then allows one to re-register the item in another country and use "green card" tourist Ins. Typically 150 euro /month Ins + reregistering paperwork = a total of some 500 euro. It also avoids parking / speeding tickets.
To Stefano...no no Mot not all countries use MOT...I and friends, have been doing it for some 30 + years.
In other countries we can register in 15 minutes....say 25 if there are people in the line ahead of you. In Italy as you know, it may take a year and much aggravation...one of the reasons I only stay a month at a time......
Regards,
Dorien
